Management Information System Testing & Implementation Support

Testing whether a new information system worked in practice

SystemsConsulting

Overview

A management information system was being introduced and needed independent checking before people relied on it for daily work and reporting. The assignment focused on whether the system behaved the way the organization expected it to.

The Challenge

Specifications describe how a system should work. They do not confirm how it behaves once real workflows, user roles and reports are applied to it, and unverified differences become operational problems after rollout.

What We Did

  • Reviewed system workflows against operational requirements
  • Executed functional testing across core processes
  • Tested user roles and permissions
  • Validated generated reports against source data
  • Documented issues with severity and tracked resolution with the implementation team
  • Supported user acceptance and rollout activities

What We Delivered

  • Test plans and structured test cases
  • Report validation findings
  • Issue log with severity and status
  • Workflow review notes
  • Implementation support recommendations

The Value

Helped identify differences between expected and actual system behavior during implementation, so issues could be addressed while they were still straightforward to correct.
